On December 18, 2023, the launching ceremony of the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges Logo Design Contest was held in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong attended the launching ceremony and delivered remarks.
Nong Rong said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the proposal of building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future put forward by President Xi Jinping. Over the past ten years, the building of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future has continuously taken new steps, and the role of people-to-people and cultural exchanges as an important pillar of China-ASEAN relations has become more prominent. The two sides should jointly ensure the success of the Year of People-to-people Exchanges, enhance mutual respect and mutual trust, and work together to promote and contribute to the China-ASEAN friendship; promote mutual benefit and deepen economic, trade and investment cooperation in an all-round manner; strengthen mutual learning, and carry forward the Asian values featuring peace, cooperation, inclusiveness and integration. The Logo Design Contest is a prelude to the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges. In the coming year, China will hold a variety of people-to-people and cultural exchanges and activities with ASEAN countries. China looks forward to active participation from all sectors to contribute to promoting mutual understanding and affinity among the two billion people on both sides, adding impetus to deepening the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, and jointly building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
The launching ceremony of the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges Logo Design Contest is co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the ASEAN-China Centre, and organized by Changzhi Municipal People's Government of Shanxi Province. Nearly 200 people attended the launching ceremony, including Vice Governor of Shanxi Province Tang Zhiping, diplomatic envoys of ASEAN countries to China, and representatives from universities, youth, and media of China and ASEAN countries, among others.
